Ms._Marvel_Vol_3_9This comic is getting goood, Fangirls. Not that it was ever, ever bad. Ms. Marvel has been one of my favorite series to read over the last year, and it really does only get better & better. Last issue was a doozy, and this one was just as intense & brilliant. Issue 8 left us hanging a bit at the end, and issue 9 gives us those solutions, plus a whole lot more. Also to my delight, a whole lot more Lockjaw, too.

The school had been attacked by a giant robot, clearly seeking out Ms. Marvel. Everyone had gotten out safely, and Ms. was ready to put up one hell of a fight. But something with her powers decided that they didn’t want to work that day. Ms. was stuck up against this robot, not being able to shape shift the way she could, and struggling to heal. She goes up against it a little bit, but is finding that she is fading fast. She uses up the last of her energy to through a huge piece of rubble at the robot, and that does both of them in. Kamala is hurt, and Bruno rushes to her side. So do a few other people. Medusa is suddenly standing there, with Lockjaw, ordering that they are taken to New Attilan.

Kamala wakes in a bath of blue goop. The goop was helping her body function so that she could heal. She then finds out where she is, who she is with, and who she is. Medusa introduces her self as the Ruler of New Attilan, Queen of the Inhumans. Upon Kamala waking up, Medusa tells her that she’s home among her people, Inhumans. Up until this point, Kamala had believed that she was a mutant, with her powers beginning in puberty. Medusa explains that her powers actually were triggered in the Terrigen Cloud back in the first issue. Kamala is left to think about all this, which is a whole lot to take in. Medusa tells her that Attilan is hear when she wants answers.

But Kamala has other business to take care of. Her school was just attacked by the Inventor, she couldn’t sit and wait and not do anything. Though she’s supposed to stay there and get well, she urges Lockjaw to transport her back home. When she’s there, she’s supposed to stay home and rest, but she goes to meet up with Vick at the house in Greenville. She needs to bring this operation down now, and she’s ready to kick ass & take names. At the house, though, she runs into some problems. She charges at them, ready to fight, but they place her in a force field so that she can’t come near them. Using her powers, though, she dismantles it from the inside like the badass that she is. She also makes it explode a little bit. When the dust settles, she confronts the young people outside. Telling them that “harvest day” is over, and that this whole thing is being shut down. They tell her that it has to happen, and that they are volunteers, they’re by choice.

This changes the game up a little bit, Fangirls. This whole time we thought that the Inventor had been stealing these people away, but they claim to be there by choice. Vick however, wasn’t, and never mentioned that. I’m left pretty darn curious, but of course, I must wait until issue #10 for some answers. Until then, Fangirls, get going on loving this series if you don’t already. There’s nothing more hilarious, badass, and certainly nothing with the same amount of Lockjaw.
